Tyler H's 1989 Legacy L Wagon

Member #41829 :: Car Show Entry

Car Description:
I have owned this Legacy since 2009. I bought it for $1,750 with 87,000 miles on it and currently it sits around 175k. This was the car that I bought when I sold my 2005 WRX and it represented a freedom to me that nothing else had before. It was my first exploration vehicle and my first rally car and the first car I've ever fallen in love with. I've owned lots of other cars, but none have ever compared to the Legacy. It took me a long time to learn to love the red color and every small dent and scrape, but it's a special car to me. So special, in fact, that it was the car my wife and I drove off in when we left our wedding. It has always been a part of my adult life and over the years of abuse and thousands of miles offroading and amateur rallying I have learned to appreciate (most) squeaks and rattles.

As for mods throughout the years I had definitely went through phases. There was the $75 used Forester strut/wheel lift years. The ridiculous 6 foglight years. The entire year I didn't wash it one time...its been through some stuff when I was a kid. It has mud caked in places underneath it that has been there longer than most vehicles have been on the road. How it sits now it's mainly stock with a lift from some outback struts, JDM glass headlights, a Cobb exhaust, and some custom polyurethane rear end links that I have to shape with a dremel. Other than that it's just gotten refreshes to things like the engine, trans, suspension, body, steering, etc. (Engine seals, way bar bushings, Whiteline steering rack bushings, Group N transverse link bushings...crap like that) The suspension was completely refreshed maybe a year ago. I learned to work on vehicles with this car because I was going offroad almost every weekend in it for years. It still runs well and I love it! It's not the prettiest vehicle in the world to most people, but it's the only vehicle I've ever been so attached to. I've appreciated our twelve years together.

It has original paint and the interior/exterior is actually pretty impressive considering how much we've been through together. I love my Legacy and it became an antique a few years ago. It was made in February of '89 and I'm always thankful for it in my life. The day I finally got to put an antique plate on it was pretty monumental too :D

Also, this thing is never finished, so it'll probably have some slight changes before the show.
